Biostatistics and Bioinformatics

Ongoing improvements in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies enable biological experiments to be conducted on much larger scales. This has created new opportunities in biological and medical research, while posing new challenges in analyzing these data. My proposed research is to develop methods and software in: (1) analysis of time-course multi-type NGS data, (2) biomarker discovery using multiple studies, and (3) design clinical trials with potential biomarkers. Tremendous volumes of genomics/epigenomics data in public resources are generated with substantial effort of the research community. My research allows the utilization of this information to support basic biological research and industrial drug development.
