Un des aspects importants de la sécurité aérienne concerne l'entretien adéquat des pistes d'aéroports. Effectivement, tous types de contaminants solides ou liquides; du petit écrou à l'épaisse couche de neige peuvent provoquer des accidents fatals. Ce projet de recherche porte sur l'entretien des pistes en conditions hivernales et plus précisément sur les produits déverglaçant. Bien que ces derniers soient utilisés en très grandes quantités, il existe très peu d'étude expérimentale sur la performance de ces derniers, sous différentes conditions climatiques et sous différente forme de dilution ou même, lorsqu'ils sont contaminés par d'autres fluides environnants. L'équipe de l'Aéroport de Montréal, ADM, a donc contacté l'équipe du Laboratoire des Matériaux Antigivre, LIMA, de l'UQAC afin d'acquérir plus de connaissances sur la performance de ces produits dans le but d'optimiser la quantité utilisée. Effectivement, une réduction de quantité permettra de réduire leur impact environnemental, leur impact nocif sur certaines parties d'aéronefs et leurs coûts. L'équipe du LIMA, ayant déjà une expertise reliée à l'évaluation des déverglaçant sera secondée par une équipe multidisciplinaire incluant des experts en météorologie, WPred inc., en simulation numérique des phénomènes givrants de l'École de Technologie Supérieurs, ETS, et en développement de produits déverglaçant, Nachurs Alpine Solutions.#(cr)#(lf)An important aspect of aviation safety is the proper maintenance of airport runways. Indeed, all types of solid or liquid contaminants, from the small nut to the thick layer of snow can cause fatal accidents. This research project focuses specifically on the maintenance of winter runways specifically on deicing products. Although the latter are used in very large quantities, in different dilution forms or even, when they are contaminated by other surrounding fluids. The Montréal airport operations team, ADM, therefore contacted the UQAC's Anti-Icing Materials International Laboratory, AMIL, to gain more knowledge about the performance of these products in order to optimize and reduce the amount used. This reduction will reduce their environmental impact, their damaging impact on certain parts of aircraft and the costs. The LIMA team will then perform a series of performance tests, some of which are already recognized by the industry and others that will be specifically adapted for this project with a wide and varied sampling of deicing products with environmental conditions representative of those prevailing in the field. The project will be divided into 3 objectives, the first of which will focus on the development of a classification grid of products according to the weather conditions coupled with an experimental and numerical simulation of the spreading rates. The second will study the possible effects of chemical contamination of liquid form products. The last objective will study storage conditions for solid-type products in order to reduce losses. Most of the experiments will be done inside the LIMA climate chambers and will be validated, if necessary, at the ADM site. The team will be supplemented by students, meteorological experts, WPred Inc., Nachurs Alpine Solutions and an expert in numerical simulation of icing phenomena from the École des technologies Supérieures, ETS.
