Our overall theme is sharing Sharing Mixed Realities. Collaborative virtual and augmented environments are spaces meant to be shared by two or more users. We often work, play and socialize with others and widespread adoption of AR and VR technology depends on the ability to support social and team interactions. The project revolves around the question: how do we share a common space that is partially or completely virtual? To answer this question, we must consider individual and common frames of reference and how they are remapped as a consequence of task, environment and opportunities for interaction.By the end of the project, we will develop a foundational understanding of how two or more people can develop and use common perceptual understanding of (1) Shared Places and Spaces, (2) Shared Objects and Materials and (3) Shared Interactions. This will allow designers to determine whether collaborative experiences and applications are likely to be coherent and consistent for the users and ultimately whether they will be successful.
