Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is the most flexible and powerful diagnostic imaging method available to clinical medicine. A multi-billion dollar a year industry, MRI has permitted unparalleled diagnosis of a variety of human ailments. Unfortunately traditional clinical MRI techniques often fail when applied to many porous media and materials systems. The UNB MRI Centre, led by Dr. Bruce Balcom, has invented a series of MR and MRI techniques which permit quantitative imaging and analysis of a broad range of materials and processes. The UNB MRI Centre is world-leading and Dr. Balcom's CRC renewal will support continuation of their pioneering studies.
