The purpose of this international collaboration is to regroup experts in the fields of nanomedicine and surface sciences to tackle outstanding scientific challenges hampering nanoparticle technologies translation to clinical settings. In this project, we propose to study the impact of high frequency acoustic waves on NPs fate and particularly their biodistribution. The main objective of the project is thus to study the impact of ultrasound radiation on NPs-cell interactions in biological media and to establish how ultrasound properties could govern biodistribution, toxicity and therapeutic efficacy of NPs. Through this collaboration we aim to combine a unique set of physicochemical and biological characterization techniques that will allow us to elucidate the effect of ultrasounds both on the NPs themselves and on their interaction with different biological entities such as proteins and cells. The knowledge gained from this collaboration will nurture further studies aimed to elucidate, and most importantly predict, the biological fate of nanomedicine based on their physicochemical properties.
