Completion of a book on the religious history of India from the sixteenth to the early twentieth century

The application requests funding for a 6 months replacement to finish a comprehensive religious history of India from the sixteenth to the beginning of the twentieth century. To date, the histories of Hinduism, Indian Islam, Sikhism and Indian Christianity have been written separately. At the same time, this practice is questioned by current scholarly debates. However, a comprehensive outline for a general religious history of that region is still missing. The project might help to fill the gap.
