Stem cell therapy for psychiatric disorders using granulocyte-colony stimulating factor

本研究的目的是开发一种可能的治疗方法，通过增加外周造血干细胞上调神经发生上调来治疗精神障碍。首先，我们证明了干细胞和抗抑郁剂的联合外周治疗有可能恢复难治性抑郁症模型的异常行为，这已被证明可以增加血清中的营养因子。我们还发现，外周处理的神经干细胞主要集中在存在催产素/血管紧张素能神经元的下丘脑区域，并恢复了包括父母行为在内的精神疾病模型的社会/认知障碍。

The purpose of this study is to develop a possible therapeutic approach for psychiatric disorders by neurogenesis upregulation through increase of peripheral hematopoietic stem cells. First, we have demonstrated that the combined peripheral treatment of stem cells and antidepressant, which has been indicated to increase trophic factors in the serum could have potential to recover the abnormal behavior of treatment-resistant refractory depression model. We have also shown that peripherally treated neural stem cells concentrated much in the hypothalamus areas where oxytocin/vasopresinergic neurons exist, and recovered social/cognitive impairment of psychiatric disease model including parental behavior.
