Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) are derived from mature cells and are capable to differentiate into any adult cell types. We previously showed that the cells from which iPS cells are derived affect their molecular properties. Here we propose to investigate how the common embryonic origin of adult cells affects the differentiation potential of iPS cells. Our results may indicate which mature cell types should be used when deriving iPS cells for use in cellular replacement therapies.
