As people get older they become at increased risk of disability and frailty. Thebiological mechanisms of ageing are increasingly well understood and include, forinstance, declining control of gene expression, stem cells and immunity. These ageinghallmarks can be targeted with drugs, in both laboratory animals and humans, toimprove health during ageing. This project will exploit the rich information in multipledatabases, including UK Biobank and the research literature, to identify the key ageinghallmarks that lead to age-related problems, and that could be targeted to combatthem. Depending on student interests, experimental follow up would be possible.
