AMBULATORY BLOOD PRESSURE PATTERNS IN CHILDREN AT RISK FOR HYPERTENSION

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This proposal is the continuation of a pilot study designed to identify abnormal blood pressure patterns using ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in chidren who have met specific criteria. Researchers are testing the hypothesis that children who have intermittent systolic or diastolic blood pressure elevations and/or do not display the nocturnal decline in blood pressure are more likely to have evidence of hypertension induced cardiac changes or subtle changes in renal function.
