IDENTIFICATION OF POTENTIAL NDC10 INTERACTING PROTEINS BY TWO-HYBRID

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The NDC10 gene was originally identified on the basis of its essential role in kinetochore function and chromosome segregation during mitosis as a centromere bound protein. Investigation has led to a fair understanding of Ndc10's interactions at the centromere with DNA and other proteins; however, the observation that Ndc10 also localizes to the mitotic spindle has garnered less study. We are interested in trying to identify proteins that interact with Ndc10, and we propose performing a genome-wide two-hybrid screen using Ndc10 as bait to do this.
