Test Infrastructure for Next-Generation (5G) Wireless Communication and Internet of Things

In this application, we request test equipment that would enable a complete setup to simultaneously support low-noise, low-power communication applications geared towards the next-generation (5G) wireless systems and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Globally, we are on the cusp of revolutionary changes in communication and microsystems technology. Through the combination of integrated circuits, antennas, sensors and algorithms, new technologies and systems are poised to impact important areas such as mobile data connectivity, smart home and city, industrial internet, and connected health. The applicants’ research groups are engaged in the design, development and testing of leading-edge IoT and 5G systems, with an emphasis on training students for applications that are highly relevant to the Canadian society and industry.
