This project will research methods to increase recycling of grey-water produce in a greenhouse facility to**maximize system efficiency. Greenhouse water can be classified in the following categories (1) primary water,**(2) drain water, (3) nutrient supplementation, (4) irrigation water. Wherein primary water is the rainwater or**other "raw water" source that comes from the outside environment for the greenhouse, the drain water is water**collected after it passes through the initial stages of the greenhouse and is recaptured for water efficiency; both**(1) and (2) are generally lacking in growth nutrients, thus nutrient supplementation is required and all three**components are mixed to make the actual irrigation water for the greenhouse plants. In this process we are**adding in step (5) agricultural grey water. The agricultural grey water is expected to contain nutrients that will**reduce or eliminate step (3). However, to-date there is no research with proposed treatment process and the**water quality with respect to needs in our greenhouse systems. Dr. Basu and industry partner, BWGlobal, are**collaborating together to help assess an internal system that can further process greenhouse grey-water to**recycle, reuse or commercialize it.
