Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Mazdis Innovations designs and engineers innovative storage system**products for urban and densely populated areas. The company's flagship product is secure bicycle parking**system for both indoor and outdoor settings. Given the popularity of this product, the company's R&D effort is**now focussed on low-footprint residential storage units. Currently, Mazdis is in the process of commercializing**its new line of automated storage systems. While developing offsite automate storage facilities the company**has discovered a major problem that most of the end-users experience, particularly in densely populated areas**where many buildings do not provide enough storage space for residents. As a result, residents have to rent out**alternative storages offsite. Also, the cost of gas and environment is making most people, particularly the**Millennials, to lean toward smaller cars or rely more on the ride-hailing services, with minimal or no towing**capacity. With this in mind, the company predicts the conventional moving trailers to eventually become**obsolete. Based on this vision, and given the automotive industry's embracing the self-driving vehicle concept,**the company has focused its R&D efforts to develop a low-cost, battery-powered autonomous trailer that would**track and follow a (towing) vehicle without a physical link. Currently, there is no other alternative in the**market, which would place Mazdis as a leading player in the market. The envisioned product has other**potential applications/markets such as RVs, airport cargo transportation, etc. The proposed project with Dr.**Golnaraghi is the first step towards the realization of this goal.
