The technology developers have produced a handheld diffuse optical breast scanning probe to measure opticalproperties of breast tissue and create functional and compositional cross-sectional images of the breast. Toevaluate performance and usability of the device, the developers, first tested the probe on breast tissuemimicking materials which have similar optical properties to breast tissue. They then tested the device onhuman subjects.The key questions on the commercial viability of this technology relate to validation of the potential marketsize for the technology, validation of the end-user need and willingness/ability to purchase.The planned market study will help identify key market segments and key demographics together with potentialaddressable market size. There has been investment interest from various sources in North America and Asia.The study will help set an initial range for potential valuation in any investment discussions.
