Living cells in the body are exposed to mechanical forces that provide critical signals to regulate cell fate and**function. Understanding how mechanical forces regulate cell function is therefore broadly important to our**understanding of cell and tissue dysfunction in disease. Importantly, the design of medical devices,**biomaterials, and engineered tissues for repair or replacement is informed by our understanding of how living**cells sense and respond to mechanical forces. The problem faced by biomedical researchers is that traditional**cell culture substrate materials do not appropriately mimic the mechanical cues that arise in the in vivo**microenvironment because they are rigid and static. To advance discovery and innovation in mechanobiology,**CellScale Biomaterials Testing Inc. has developed the MechanoCulture FX system, a novel culture technology**for cell stretching experimentation. In this project, CellScale will collaborate with researchers to develop novel**cell culture plate designs which will allow for long-term cell culture, microscopy and quantification in order to**advance our understanding of mechanobiology. These new innovations are expected to establish a new**standard in commercial cell stretching systems and have rapid impact. CellScale is a leader in providing such**tools and innovations to bioscience and regenerative medicine researchers around the globe.
