The objective of this research project, conducted in collaboration with transit authority from the Montreal Region and other areas of the Quebec Province, is to develop an open platform for the design, planning, analysis and simulation of public and alternative transportation networks. This platform will be able to support decision making in order to provide the high expectations of the population with respect to sustainable transportation networks.This platform will include various functions: transit network geocoding, evaluation of the required resources to operate transit services, evaluation of the impacts of various network scenarios (social, environmental and economical) including both transit and alternative modes, network design tools using algorithms fed by the evolutionist theory, evaluation of the impacts of network scenarios on behaviour changes for various types of travellers by accounting for preference heterogeneity.
