RUI: Improving Risk Communication Through Modifications in Message Context

将测试三种信息上下文修改技术的力量：启动、计划和参与，以提高风险沟通的有效性。启动是指在收到目标信息之前提供与信息相关的信息。策划是指受众单独或集体参与的认知和行为活动。规划的目的是改善危害管理。参与是指作为一个解决问题的团队的人之间的互动。该项目的目标是：(1)评估参与/关联/能力情境修正方法在互动过程中改善风险沟通的有效性；(2)评估两种改进风险沟通的方法在试图减少公众对风险的关注和试图增加公众对风险的关注时的相对功效。研究结果将有助于风险沟通理论的发展和风险沟通实践的改进。

The power of three message context modification techniques: priming, planning and participation, to enhance the effectiveness of risk communication, will be tested. Priming is the provision of message-relevant information prior to receipt of the target message. Planning refers to cognitive and behavioral activities engaged in by the audience, whether singly or in groups. The purpose of planning is improved hazard management. Participation refers to interaction among persons acting as a problem-solving team. The objectives of the project are to: (1) assess the efficacy of the Involvement/Relevance/Ability context modification approach to risk communication improvement within an interactive process, (2) to assess the relative efficacy of the two approaches to risk communication improvement both when attempting to reduce public concern about a risk and when attempting to increase public concern about a risk. Results from this study will contribute to the development of risk communication theory and improved risk communication practice.
