AbstractAward: DMS-0503596Principal Investigator: Christopher M. Judge and Bruce SolomonThe Bloomington Geometry Workshop brings together leadinggeometers to discuss and disseminate recent advances in geometryand related fields. This year's list of speakers includes IanAgol, Francois Ledrappier, John Lott, Gang Tian, and FangyangZheng. These speakers will inform participants of work inhyperbolic manifolds, rigidity, Kahler geometry, and the Ricciflow.The purpose of the Workshop is to help foster cooperation andcollaboration among researchers in the midwest region as well ashelp educate graduate students and young researchers about thelatest developments in geometry. Most of the funding will be usedto support the travel of graduate students and recent PhD's.These young researchers will come away from the workshop betterprepared to take part in current research in geometry, a field ofbasic research that is important to computer graphics, quantumphysics, material science, and many other scientific disciplines.
