ABSTRACT:Proposal no: 0508382 Title: "NER: WISP: Wire-Streaming Processors in 2-D Nanoscale FabricsPI: Csaba Andras MoritzInst: University of MassachusettsIn this proposal, the PIs outline a project whose goal is to explore the design and capabilities of high-density nanoscale integrated circuit systems. A key objective is to address the impact of device and fabrication properties on computing and fully exploit the density advantages of nanoscale devices based on silicon nanowires or carbon nanotubes. In addition, the proposed work could have a significant impact at the nanodevice level, by establishing desirable device characteristics and fabrication requirements required for successful nanoscale architectures. In the proposed WIre-Streaming Processors (WISP) design data is streamed through the nanofabric with minimal control with intermediate results during processing often stored on the wire without requiring explicit storage. The added nanodevice-specific optimizations help maximize the density advantages of nanodevices as the building blocks of nanoscale architectures.
