英文摘要
With Sequence dependent set-up times companies are facing the challenge to trade off the objectives output rate, throughput time, WIP and schedule reliability. Up to now no model exists that describes the impact of set-up cycles on these logistic objectives with general validity. The research project aims at two major goals:I. Development of a quantitative model that describes the impact of set-up cycles on output rate and throughput times as a function of the mean WIP using operating curves.II. Development of a quantitative model that describes the impact of set-up cycles on lateness as a function of the mean WIP and the production times of the set-up families. With the achievement of the first major goal, the impact of set-up cycles on the logistic objectives WIP, throughput time and output rate would be modeled for the first time in a quantitative and generally valid way.The achievement of the second major goal makes it possible to model the influence of set-up cycles on lateness. The main result is the maximum and the mean absolute lateness as a function of WIP and the production times of the set-up families. The overall goal therefore is to model all four logistic objectives as a function of WIP and of the production times of the set-up families. This will allow companies for the first time to decide on the basis of comprehensive quantitative information for or against sequencing with set-up cycles and to set the parameters of the set-up cycles in a logistic positioning.
