本研究は、地球温暖化問題に代表される超長期の問題に対する我々の利他的選好について、脳科学、認知科学、徳倫理学、哲学、経済学からの学際的考察を行うことを通じて、伝統的に効用の無限流列への選好として表現されてきた経済動学モデルの効用関数に代わる新たな効用関数を提案することを課題としている。計画時点での重点事項として、世代間利他主義と世代内利他主義の違いを明らかにすること、地球温暖化問題の経済学への含意を得ることを挙げている。以上の課題に対して、昨年度に引き続き研究会の開催を通じて検討を加えてきた。本年度は、これまでの研究をとりまとめる方向で研究を進めた。第1に、利他主義への理解として、社会選好効用（我々は利他的選好を持つ。経済学のオーソドックスなアプローチ）と社会厚生関数（選好と独立に社会のあり方についての見解を我々は持つ。Rawls-Harsanyi-Binmoreアプローチ）の２つのアプローチを区別し、それぞれの固有の問題、共通する問題、政策上の含意、世代内／世代間利他主義の違い等を考察した。たとえば世代間利他主義にかかわる前者の固有の問題として、時間非整合な選好が自然に現れる一方で、社会に対しては合理性＝時間整合性を求める（ように思われる）ことをどう理解するかが問われる。この問題は、社会厚生関数アプローチでは自身の選好と社会の仕組みに対する選好が独立であるため生じないが、社会厚生関数の普遍性をどのように確保するかという長く論じられてきた問題を処理しなければならない。第２に、世代間利他主義への自然主義的探究として、生理学としての脳科学およびAltruistic Brain Theory (Pfaff, 2015) と本研究課題の関係について総括し、またメンタライゼイションとコミュニケーションに関する認知実験の結果をまとめた。

This study is an interdisciplinary study of the ultra-long-term problems associated with global warming, including science, cognitive science, ethics, philosophy, and economics. The priorities of the plan include: intergenerational altruism; intragenerational altruism; and the scientific implications of global warming. The above topics are discussed in the opening ceremony of the annual conference on the promotion of science and technology. This year's research is progressing. The first is the understanding of altruism and the choice of social choice. Social welfare is the key to social welfare. Rawls-Harsanyi-Binmore is a two-part review of differences, inherent problems, common problems, policy implications, and violations of intra-and intergenerational altruism. Intergenerational altruism has inherent problems, temporal non-integration, selection, natural appearance, social rationality, temporal integration, and understanding. The problem of social welfare is not only the problem of social welfare, but also the problem of social welfare. Second, intergenerational altruism and naturalism are explored in physiology, science, and Altruistic Brain Theory (Pfaff, 2015), and the relationship between this research topic and cognitive outcomes is summarized.
