【研究目的】学長等の大学執行部が大学IRを活用できているか、活用できていればその要因はどこにあるか、あるいは活用できていないのであれば何が障壁になっているのかについて、IR担当部署の情報提供の仕方等に焦点をあてて考察を行う。これにより「どのようにIRが提供する情報を活用して大学改革を機能させるか」というIRの成長期に資することを目的とする。【研究方法】①ヒアリング調査：国内大学2校（IR担当部署）に対して、大学執行部や学部等への情報提供の方法、内容、体制（部署の人数や役割分担）等に関して調査を実施（2022年8月）②質問紙調査：国内大学のIR担当部署担当者に対して、郵送・Web回答により調査を実施（2023年2月。配付数：802，回答数：323（うち有効回答291），回答率：40.2％（36.3%）。【研究結果】ヒアリング調査では、IR担当部署が大学内で必要とされるには地道なインナーコミュニケーションが必要であることが示唆された。執行部や学部が「自分事」となるよう、必要（知るべき）データだけでなく、興味を持つデータを示すことにより、徐々にデータを見るという文化が醸成されることが分かった。そのため、担当者には統計・分析能力のみならず、コミュニケーション能力も必要となる。質問紙調査では、2020年に発表された「教学マネジメント指針」により学内のIRに対する変化（例えば、執行部からの依頼の増加）を感じている担当者も多く、ミーティングや報告書を通じて積極的な情報提供を行っていることが分かった。また、ヒアリング調査と同様に統計的な能力だけでなく、コミュニケーション能力や大学業界に対する知識が必要あると感じている結果が見られた。（質問紙調査の結果については、山口大学教学マネジメント室のWebサイト上で公開している）
