项目摘要

現在、研究協力者に依頼して『和玉篇』国会図書館本に対し、文字の領域を特定して枠をつけるプログラムの開発を依頼している。個々の活字ごとに版面に現れる傾きが相違するため、いくつかのアプローチを試みて精度を挙げるよう尽力している。本年度は、その成果に一定の進捗が見られたので、複数回の打ち合わせを行い、多少のズレは申請者が手修正することにして、仁和寺所蔵活字と国会本使用活字とのコンピュータによる照合を試みる準備をしている。これまで視認に基づいて分離・整理していた「ウ」・「ホ」・「メ」の3つの活字サンプルについては、申請者の眼病が悪化したことにより成立分の国会本上巻のみでデータベース化を進めている。これは各丁に各々の活字がいくつあるかを精査して一覧表にしたもので、これを活字データと結び付ける作業が今少し残っている。同活字が現れる丁数などから組版のペースや工房の規模など印刷作業の検証が可能であり、印刷事業全体を推測、捕捉するための基盤となる作業となる。プログラム構築の精度を確認するための意義も担う。また、懸案となっていた慶長年間成立の整版本のカタカナ活字であるが、写真撮影をしなくてもスキャナーで読み込むことで作業の能率化が図れることが判明したので、高性能スキャナーを購入し部分的に試しているところである。この方法であれば、製版本を解体する必要もなく外部委託もせずに済むので、費用が大幅に節約できる。さらにはスキャナーの読み取り分からすぐさまデータ化できるので、これもコンピュータによる照合の対象にできる。活字資料整理の目途がようやく見えてきたので、これまでの研究成果をまとめられるように、研究資料の整理と執筆準備を始めているが、まだ手作業によるデータベース化に時間を取られ、さらにプログラムの完成に今しばらく時間を要するようなので、臨機応変に対応することとし、同時並行的に作業を進めていく。
