本研究の目的は、開発途上国において「持続可能な開発」がどのような条件や政策の下で可能となるかを、農村都市間人口移動と都市失業のある二重経済モデルを基礎として、解明することにある。2022年に国際学術雑誌（Environment and Development Economics）に採択・掲載された論文での、農村部門でオープンアクセスの自然資源ストックを用いる資源財生産が行われる小国開放ハリス・トダロ(HT)経済の静学モデルを出発点に、以下の取り組みを実施した。(1)農村再生可能資源ストックと都市失業率とが同時に変動するモデル：このモデルは、再生可能資源ストックと都市失業率の2変数の連立微分方程式で表されるため、その解の性質を正確に分析できる能力を高めるべく、非線形経済動学に関する勉強や文献調査に注力した。(2)農村に資源財生産だけでなく農業生産もあるモデル：農村部門において再生可能資源の生育基盤（habitat）が農地転換される点をモデル化できる、正確で扱いやすい方法を探る考察を、いろいろな角度から行った。また、農業と工業の比重が変化する「構造転換（変化）」に関する最近の学術研究論文や、関連する現実経済（貧困削減の主要な対象とされているアフリカが中心）を論じた文献の調査を行った。(3)近年の国際学界における都市インフォーマル部門の研究では、農村から都市への人口移動だけでなく、経済全体の人口増加も都市インフォーマル部門を拡大させる要因として重要との認識が深まっている。新たな分析視点としての「人口変化と経済発展との関係」に関する理解を深めるため、人口変化（人口減少も含む）を取り入れた経済成長モデルの分析を試みた。
