项目摘要

本研究課題の3年目にあたる令和4年度は，令和2年度までに整備済のデータに依拠した論文の執筆を進めた。具体的に，「在来産業の製品ポートフォリオ拡張と低級品市場：1890-1910年代醤油醸造家・髙梨家の地方売りと手印類似品」と題した論文を執筆し，2022年4月に慶應義塾大学産業研究所よりディスカッションペーパー No.166として刊行した（https://www.sanken.keio.ac.jp/publication/KEO-dp/166/KEO-DP166.pdf）。本論文より3点が明らかになった。第1に，低級品醤油が主体の地方市場は異地点間の価格連動性が低かった。第2に，髙梨家は低級品の販売拡大を手印と手印類似品の提供拡大によって達成した。第3に，地方市場で手印と手印類似品は販路確保のみならず価格の低下抑制に寄与した。在来産業はテクノロジー・フロンティアの押し上げが不可能な特性から製品フロンティアの水平的拡張に傾注したが，在来産業で製品の品質規格は近代産業より統一されていなかった。その状況下で各生産主体は個別に大量の印を設定し，多様な印は在来産業の製品市場で各製品の識別に用いられた。こうした特徴から在来産業は近代産業より製品ポートフォリオの水平的拡張を柔軟に実施し，価格の部分的なコントロールに利用した。以上を近代産業とは異なる在来産業固有の製品ポートフォリオの拡張として指摘した。以上の内容に関する議論を関連の研究者と進展させ，2022年度三田史学会日本史部会（2022年6月25日・慶應義塾大学），経営史学会第58回全国大会（2022年9月16日・関西大学）において報告・議論した。これらの議論で得られた成果を反映し，2023年5月頃刊行予定の井奥成彦・中西聡編著『醸造業の展開と地方の工業化：近世・近代日本の地域経済』（慶應義塾大学出版会）に収録することができた。
