本研究は2022年度から実施された「歴史総合」について、実践設計の指針となる理論的枠組みを構築し、具体的なプログラムの開発に取り組むことを目的としている。その際、地域からの視点を歴史総合に位置づけることと、戦後歴史教育の実践的蓄積の発展的な継承を図ることを柱に取り組むものである。本研究の3年目となった2022年度は、まず近現代史・地域史の研究成果の整理・分析をもとに、特に東北史を中心に地域史研究の成果と到達点を踏まえた実践の開発を進め、その検証にも着手した。このことに関する研究成果の一部は、高大連携歴史研究会の研究大会において口頭発表した（「地域‐日本‐世界をつなぐ歴史学習－世界史の中の「民次郎一揆」－」）。さらに、具体的な教材開発に向けて、近世末期の北海道東部の動向と北東北との関係性に着目し、その調査及び資料収集を進めた。また、日本社会全体の変化や政策動向の変容と高校地理歴史科・公民科改革との関係性について、経済界から求められている教育への要望や世界の潮流等も視野に入れつつ資料分析・検討を進めた。これを踏まえて、80年代以降の代表的な歴史教育実践（安井俊夫実践、加藤公明実践）で語られてきた「主体的な学び」や「対話的な学び」と、今求められている「主体的で対話的な深い学び」との共通点と相違点を検討した。その結果、安井実践、加藤実践と近年のアクティブ・ラーニングとでは、「人材育成」という視点か、「民主的な市民の育成」という視点かといった点で大きな相違があることが明らかとなった。これに関する研究成果は論文（「高等学校地理歴史科・公民科改革の進行と教育改革－地理歴史科・公民科を学ぶ意味という視点から考える－」）として発表した。
