本研究は、輸出企業数で測った輸出の外延 (the extensive margin of exports) が関税と名目為替レート双方の変化に反応するのかという問いに実証的に答える。第1段階として、中国のデータによる分析をまとめた論文が令和3年度に査読付き海外ジャーナルであるReview of International Economicsに受理された。その後、第2段階として、イギリスのデータを用いた分析を行うことに決め、令和3年度中にその研究計画を立てたが、イギリスのデータ収集作業が進まず保留となった。そこで、令和4年度は、第1段階同様に輸出に関連した新たな第2段階として、「多くの国で製造業の付加価値は減少しているのに輸出は増加している」という興味深いパズルを垂直的分業 (vertical specialization) に基づいて説明する実証分析を行うことに決め、論文の土台を一気に書き上げた。中国のデータを用いた第1段階の主な付加価値は以下の通りである。 (1) 関税対為替レートに関する文献、特に、企業あるいは輸出企業の関税と為替レートに対する反応を実証分析した文献に貢献する。 (2) 名目為替レートと輸出に関する文献にも貢献する。 (3) 名目為替レートの輸出企業数への影響を大きくする要因として金融制約 (financial constraints) を示唆したことで、金融制約と貿易に関する文献にも貢献する。製造業の付加価値と輸出に関するパズルを分析する第2段階の主な付加価値は以下の通りである。 (1) 製造業の貿易と付加価値に関する文献に貢献する。特に本研究は垂直的分業及び上流の度合い(upstreamness) に基づいて、製造業の付加価値と輸出に関するパズルの実証テストを行う。 (2) 垂直的分業の文献にも貢献する。特に本研究は垂直的分業及び上流の度合いを上述のパズルに結び付ける。

This study measures the number of export enterprises and the extension of exports. The tariff name is the answer to the question of whether the two sides have changed. The first level of analysis of China's economic development is accepted by the Review of International Economics in 2003. In the second stage, the research plan for the first and third years was established and the research plan for the second and third years was retained. The second stage of the manufacturing industry's payment and output related analysis is the main payment and output related analysis. In particular, this study focuses on the vertical separation and upstreamness of the manufacturing industry, and on the production and output of the manufacturing industry.
