本研究はハンナ・アーレントの政治理論における公共空間の持続について、全体主義批判としての革命論の意義に注目し、明らかにするものであるが、本年度の第一の課題は、なかでも法と物語について、昨年度思考と判断に関してあらたに得られた知見との議論上のつながりを細かく位置づけることであった。この課題に関する本年度の研究成果は、この分析をとおして、法による共通世界維持の限界に対して、物語論の考察を引き継ぎ、アーレントが政治的な出来事の記憶という持続性について語る際に象徴的に用いる「詩」や「演劇」といった芸術的要素がどのように機能しているかを明らかにしたことにある。また、本年度の第二の課題は、政治的に維持されるべき世界性という要素に注目しながら、それと革命論との関係を分析するというものであった。そのうえで、新たな研究成果としては、政治における意見と事実という主題について、なかでも時間的な隔たりがある場合において、アーレントがその共有についてどのように論じているかを示したことが挙げられる。一般にアーレントの共通世界は複数性を条件とし、さまざまな意見を受け入れるものとされるが、他方で、この空間の維持のためには「際限のなさ」を阻むという機能がなければならないことは革命論から明らかである。本研究は、意見に関して「際限のなさ」に歯止めをかける活動が思考や制作であるという考え方を示し、それらの活動によってどのように制限が加えられるのかという点についてまとめた。さらに、この成果を、「ポスト・トゥルース」という時代状況に対するアーレント研究としての応答という形で整理し、2020年5月開催の政治思想学会において研究報告をおこなう予定である。他方で、昨年度課題に挙げたもののうち、アーレントの革命論が置かれる当時の社会科学・行動科学の分野との対比からその独自性を理解するという点に関しては、今後の課題となった。

This study focuses on the persistence of public space in political theory, the significance of collectivism criticism and revolutionary theory, the first topic of this year, the law and language, and the judgment of last year's thinking and judgment.
