《本研究の目的》本研究は、プロジェクト型外国語活動の「絵本型」モデルに焦点化し、教師が行う読み聞かせのためのGraded Reading(以下GR)の図書選択のための「基準」を作成し、カリキュラム案を創ることにある。小学校国語科での学習を参照しながら、教師が読み聞かせをするための図書をサンプルとして出版社ごとに数冊挙げる。《研究内容と方法》GRは、様々なものが巷にあるが,初出の単語であるheadwordの数でレベル分けがなされているものや、リーダビリティによるレベル分けがなされているものがあるが,その基準が一定しておらず、日本の学習環境に見合ったものではない。本研究では、代表的な3社のGraded Readerの中からheadwordと品詞の観点で調査し,さらにその内容を児童の認知レベルに合ったものかを小学校教員にアンケート調査等で確認し,絵本の選択基準を策定し、「読み聞かせ絵本選択基準表」としてまとめた。(1)GRの出版社別の段階分けの基準(headword,品詞,文法構造,リーダビリティ)の分析(2)統一基準(仮)を策定し、サンプル用絵本を出版社ごとに10冊程度選択(3)上記で得られた基準をもとに,英語絵本の読み聞かせのための「絵本選択基準」を作成(4)地区の小学校教員に配布し、使用可能性に関するフィードバックをアンケート調査により実施《研究の成果》・GRの出版社別の段階分けの基準が出版社ごとに異なっていたため,単語数といくつの文で構成されているかという比較ができる基準を作成した結果,レベル1の中でもさらにどの本が適切なのか,選びやすくなった。・アンケートに調査等によると,小学校中学年から高学年にかけてふさわしい読み聞かせの絵本は,単語数が100～300語以内で6登文程度のものであることがわかった。低学年では,1ページあたり3文程度の読み物が話に集中することも教員の意見として寄せられた。・絵本に出現する単語を品詞ごとに分けた結果,中学校2年生ごろから多読の読み物として使用できるのではという現場からの意見があった。
