项目摘要

本研究は、21世紀に求められる理科教師像とは何かを明らかにするために、理論的かつ実証的研究を行った。理論的研究としては、まず、わが国及びイギリスの理科教員養成の歴史的実態と求められていた資質について明らかにした。また、理科教師の実践的力量形成の場としての教育実習の内実についても比較教育史的に明らかにした。さらに、イギリスの理科教員養成の実態とそこで目指されている理科教師像とは何かを明らかにするとともに、教育実習におけるメンターリングについても検討した。その結果、わが国の中等理科教師には、教科専門的教養、教職的教養、人格的素養が求められていたのに対し、イギリスの中等理科教師には、主として教科専門的教養と人格的素養が求められていた、ことを明らかにした。また、イギリスでは、近年、生涯にわたる教師の専門的成長の観点から反省的実践家モデルの教師が目指されており、理科教員養成課程における国家基準も明示されていること、さらには同じ観点から教育実習ではメンターによるメンターリングが効果的に機能していることを明らかにした。実証編では、全国国立大学附属学校理科担当教官に教育実習及び教職観についての意識調査(量的・質的調査)と教育実習生の教育実習に対する意識調査を行った。その結果、教育実習は完成教育の場としてではなく、生涯にわたる教師の専門的成長の導入の場である、と附属学校指導教官も教育実習生も捉えていることが明らかとなった。ただ、それはイギリスの場合と違って、わが国では目指すべき教師像が明らかにされていない点が問題である。また、イギリスの理科教師と同様に、わが国の理科教師も教師の専門的成長にとって同僚との対話が重要であると認識していることが明らかとなった。
