项目摘要

本研究は,「視覚化された世界像」と「思想としての世界観」の統合に関する研究である。本研究では、(1)「カルトロジーとカルトグラフィー」の概念関係を、パノフスキーの用語法である「イコノロジーとイコノグラフィー」とのアナロジーにおいて、概念的に整理し、定義を確立すること、(2)エルサレム世界地図、イスラム中心世界地図、インド中心世界地図、中華中心世界地図が、科学的地理情報との整合性を求めて近世期に変容し、現実の世界像とイメージとしての世界像が乖離して行く過程つまり、「視覚化された世界像のパラダイム変換」のプロセスを思想史的に解明することの研究である。今年度は、以下の4点の研究を行った。(1)「カルトロジーとカルトグラフィー」の概念整理と定義の確立に向けての検討をおこなった。(2)マテオ・リッチが作成した中国中心世界地図である「坤與萬国全図」が、どのような経過を経て「日本中心型世界地図」に読み替えられてきたのかの研究をおこなった。(3)エルサレム中心の「キリスト教的世界地図」が、一五世紀に、近代的世界情報と整合するように変容して行き、破綻するプロセス、つまり、「キリスト教世界における視覚化された世界像のパラダイム変換」のプロセスを解明した。(4)西洋と東洋という「視覚化された概念」が、近世から近代に掛けての日本で、「思想としての世界観」に変容してゆく過程を研究した。(5)ドイツのエッセン高等研究所及びフランスのパリ大学で、研究成果の一部を発表した。
