The urpose of this study is to demonstrate the hypothesis that the condition of teeth loss is a simple indicatior finding osteoporosis patients from mass screening of a numberof local residents. The search for ni, ber f remaining teeth and related life-style of local residents(n=460) was conducted. Most of subjects were farmer. The survey on life-style was 20 items, e.g., smoking or drinking habits, diet, exerise, teeth-brushing, anamnase and so on.While the determination of bone mineral density of 83 female subjects who ere all of outpatients suffering osteoporosis coming to Tottori University Hospital were performed by DEXA method.Analysis was carried out by the method of quantification theory type I using statistical program package, SAS, at Data Processing Center. The results are ;1. On their life-style it reveals the tendencies of healthy habits from the questionaire.2. The relation beween life-style and numbers of reaining teethis the most siquificant on age.3. The relation between life-style and bone mineral density is defined on female osteoporosis patients. It is cncluded that the relation between bone mineral density and number of remaining teeth has less evident to be a brief indicator for screening osteoporosis patients froma large number of local residents.
