Study on the universal design house for the aged and his independent life in snowy cold region

We researched and studied on the universal design house suitable for the aged and his independent life in the snowy cold region between 2002 and 2005.Consequently we found some results of new housing design principle and proposed a sample of universal design house. Some results are as follows.(1)We researched the living condition and housing design of the seniors in Hokkaido, Aomori and Niigata prefectures. We found the real conditions and some problems on their life and house. Therefore we arranged subjects for the universal design house in snowy cold region.(2)We researched some examples of low-floored houses built in recent years in Sapporo and examined the characteristics of plus and minus carefully. We found the effectiveness and possibility of the low floored house for the seniors and the disabled.(3)We generally examined all of results and proposed a prototype of universal design house for the aged and disabled in the snowy cold region.
