<Sub-theme A : Platform for Geological Disposal Simulator>With regard to the groundwater scenario and related phenomena, numerical geological disposal simulator has been developed on the platform (middleware). On PC-cluster system (Alpha x 10PEs) and SMP cluster (SR8000), feasibilities of the parallel large-scale analysis has been evaluated.<Sub-theme B : Nuclear Migration Engine in Artificial Barrier and Rock Basin>Coupling analysis between the groundwater problem and the advection-diffusion problem has been performed by using the nuclear migration module. Since the computational load for the nuclear decay problem is not so heavy, it has been judged that analyses of practical problems on the Earth Simulator should be made to precede other than to add the function of the nuclear decay to the simulator. As to the nuclear migration problems in the artificial barrier and the rock basin, analysis models have been developed considering the site-specific assumptions, which can be applied for the practical site evaluation.<Sub-theme C : Cluster Computing Environments>Inter-node parallel efficiency and intra-node parallel efficiency have been evaluated. Also, effect of the domain decomposition onto the preconditioning of the iterative solvers has been investigated. Based on these experiences, using the PC clusters and the earth simulator, feasibilities of the geological disposal simulator have been evaluated.
