1.歌手と伴奏者の呼吸の同期シューベルト作曲の「君こそわが憩い」を歌唱中の歌手の呼吸ならびに伴奏者の呼吸を測定した.歌手が大きく息を吸う時,伴奏者の呼吸は必ず大きく変化した.“間"の箇所においてはこの傾向が特に著しかった.また,伴奏者の呼気あるいは吸気と“間"の終わりは同期を示した.伴奏者は歌手の呼吸をうかがいながら自分の呼吸を調整して伴奏音の“間"を歌唱の“間"に合わせているといえよう.2.歌手と聴取者の呼吸の同期上記の曲を歌唱中の歌手と対面して聴取中の聞き手の呼吸を測定した.聴取者の呼吸は比較的規則的な波形を示すが,歌手が大きく呼吸する箇所では聴取者の呼吸にも必ず変化が見られた.“間"の箇所においてはこの傾向が特に著しく,歌手のとる“間"と聴取者の呼吸はよく同期していた.3.再生音楽聴取時の呼吸上記実験において録画した映像と音を用いて音楽聴取時の呼吸の測定を行った.被験者は12名の大学生.条件1では演奏音のみ呈示し,条件2では演奏音と共にビデオ撮影した映像も併せて呈示した.両条件とも“間"の部分で呼吸の変化がみられたが,映像有の条件の方が呼吸がよく同期した.4.“間"の効果の心理測定 “間"の長さの長短,適・不適が心理的にどのような効果を及ぼすかを調べる実験を行った.用いた刺激はシューベルト作「君こそわが憩い」,スピーチ,ならびに,落語「道具屋」の一部である.それぞれ原音通りのもの(A条件)と,“間"の部分を除去あるいは短縮したもの(B条件)を用意した.被験者は演奏音から受ける印象に基づいて35の尺度の評定を行った.両条件の結果の間には差が見られ,“間"の効果が量的に示された.
