We apply for a high-resolution nano liquid chromatogrphy coupled mass spectrometer with an ion mobility spectrometer and parallel accumulation and serial fragmentation techniques. It will be used mainly for the determination of metabolites and peptides out of highly complex mixtures. In particular, the instrument will add further analytical tools to the existing panel, thereby enabling the identification of especially low-concentration analytes with increased sensitivity, selectivity and, at the same time, shorter measurement times. Accordingly, the main areas of application for the proposed instrument are the fields of (high throughput) metabolomics and proteomics. The instrument will be integrated into the Mass Spectrometry Center of the Institute, where several liquid chromatography-coupled, low-resolution and high-resolution mass spectrometers are already in operation around the clock. However, these are already completely occupied by the working groups. The device applied for would additionally relieve the existing devices, so that the increased and constantly rising demand for measurement times and additional analytical tools can be met, especially in the context of cooperation projects. Requirements (personnel, rooms) for operation and maintenance are available. A user guideline is also available. With the requested device, the expertise in low- and high-resolution mass spectrometry as well as liquid chromatography already built up at the Mass Spectrometry Center of the Medical Faculty at the Homburg site will further grow, which will be beneficial for current research collaborations and especially future ones.
