项目摘要

本年度は,各自の個人研究に加えて,他班との合同も含めて計7回の研究会を開催した。昨年度までの研究成果をひきついで,本年度の研究目標をつぎの3点に設定した。各研究目標とその成果とをあわせて示せば,以下のとおりである。1.昨年度の東および南アジアの「都城」論からする照射を,本年度もよりグロ-バルな視角から試みた。2回の研究会をこれにあてた。その結果,コスモロジ-のメタファ-としての都市という「都城」論的視点は,イスラ-ム圏都市において妥当しないことが明瞭となった。かわってイスラ-ム圏都市を,このような視角に対位させていかに概念化していくかという新たな問題が提起された。今後への課題である。2.〈制度・文化接触・技術〉と関連づけた景観の〈形成・維持・変容〉の研究を本年度も継続し,計2回の研究会をこれにあてた。これは,イスラ-ム圏都市の「近代化」の独自性とはなにかという問題に直結していった。それへの視角の一つとして,住戸・街区レベルでの相対的な安定性の持続という結論を得たが,これをどこまでイスラ-ムに帰しうるかについては議論が分かれた。今後の課題である。3.12月1〜2日開催の全体集会において,O班と合同で「都市解析と空間構造」のセッションを主催し,トンブクトゥを事例として都市解析におけるハ-ドな分析とソフトな分析を統合する試みを提示した。これは同時に,都市の共時的研究におけるリモ-トセンシングなどの画像処理とフィ-ルドワ-クにもとづくデ-タ収集との統合の試みでもあった。これは十分に成功した結果を提示したとはいえないが,今後への研究の可能性の開示という意味があった。これも今後への課題である。また10月の公開講演会(於大阪)及び2月の第5回「大学と科学」公開シンポジウムにおいて,研究代表者応地が成果をもとに講演した。
