本年度は、具体的な事例の照合を行う比較研究と、研究課題に関する知見を深める目的で、他地域での隣地調査に従事した研究者、さらに他の研究分野で現地体験を持つ専門家を招いて計5回の研究会を開催した。その作業を通じて確認されたのは次の論点である。第一に、民族間関係の考察における観念論的研究と実態研究の接合の方法論的検討の必要性、第二に、フィールドで交錯するさまざまな立場からの視点に研究者が対峙しているという現実についての共通認識、第三に、それぞれのフィールドで目下展開する「自文化の構築」についての問題意識などである。今後はさらに「地域」の生成との関連から民族間関係についての議論を重ねる予定である。
