项目摘要

久米栄左衛門通賢(1780〜1841年)は、高松藩領において、天体観測や計算、測量機器、時計、鉄砲や大砲などの製作、讃岐の測量、塩田開発、銅山設備の改良、港湾の構築などの多くの事業を、高い水準において成し遂げた人物である。本研究では、久米に関する史料を調査し、総合目録とデータベースを作成するとともに、約2ヶ月に1回、研究会を行い、個々の成果などの情報を交換し、研究全体の進展をはかった。2005年12月4日には成果報告会を開催した。研究成果の概要は次の通りである:1 総合目録およびデータベースの作成:香川県内の久米史料の総合目録(資料総数1823点)とデータベース(画像ファイル数約11000点)の作成を行った。総合目録は、成果報告書(2006年3月発行)に集録された。2 天文暦学:日食等の暦の計算の詳細が解明された。文化8年彗星等の観測の状況について検討された。3 塩田開発等の土木事業関係:遠州新居湊の改修に関わった状況がより明らかになり、引田浦の廻船業が大きな役割を果たしたことが明らかにされた。4 銃砲開発:銃砲開発を経済的に支えていた人的な繋がりが解明されてきた。5 高松藩へ提言された砂糖統制について、明らかにされた。6 1930〜40年代に記述された久米についての資料が発見され、久米は特に「科学者」として高く評価されていたことが明らかにされた。
