本特定領域「G蛋白質シグナル」研究は、これまでに多様な専門性と幅広い手法から主に動物細胞を対象にG蛋白質シグナルの研究を精力的に進めてきた8つの研究者グループ(研究代表者:堅田、根岸、渡邊、倉智、伊東、黒瀬、金保、望月)で「計画研究」を組織して、平成17年度後半から実質的な研究を開始した。翌平成18年度からは、一人もしくは少人数の研究者による32の「公募研究」も加わり、さらに平成20年度には、8つの「計画研究」の継続に加えて、26の「公募研究」が新たに再編され、平成21年度をもって実質的な研究の設定期間を終了した。これを受けて平成22年度は、総括班員(堅田、金保、根岸、伊東)が中心になって研究成果の取纏め・公表に向けて以下の活動を進めた。1.事後評価ヒアリングに向けて、組織されたすべての班員に研究成果の取纏めを依頼し、総括班会議の開催等を通じて本特定領域「G蛋白質シグナル」研究で得られた成果等について取り纏めを進めた。2.本特定領域研究で得られた研究成果を、各種の学術集会において発表すると共に、学術雑誌に公表した。3.本特定領域ホームページやニューズレター等を通じて、本特定領域研究で得られた研究成果を国の内外に広く公表・発信した。4.本特定領域研究で得られた研究成果を、指定様式の「研究成果報告書」冊子体(A4判846頁、CD版)として作成し、各班員・外部評価委員、その他関係各位に配布した。
