本年度では空間モデルと問い合わせ言語の設計とプロトタイプシステムの実装を行った。この空間モデルでは、人やモノ、場所などの物理的実体や空間に対して、データ構造だけでなくプログラマブルな能動的仮想オブジェクトを与えるものとなる。これらの仮想オブジェクトは含有や集約などの構造的関係をもち、その関係を通じて空間的な位置を表現することができた。また、人やモノの移動は、位置センサなどを通じて補足して、空間モデル上においてそれらに対応する仮想オブジェクトの含有関係を変更することで表現できる。また、仮想オブジェクトはそれが含有する空間のコンテキスト変化をセンサから取得すると、そのプログラムによりフィルタリング・変換して他の仮想オブジェクトに通知することで情報量を抑制する方法を提案して、その効用を確かめた。このほかコンピュータやサービスも空間モデルで統一的に扱う方法として、コンピュータに対応するプロキシーオブジェクトを設計し、計算機能のない物理オブジェクトも空間モデル上では他のオブジェクトと相互作用を行えるようにした。問い合わせ言語は、空間モデルに対応したプロセス計算体型を構築する。これはプロセス式に入れ子構造を導入し、構造の変形を通じて現実世界の変化を扱うものとなり、問い合わせ言語の構文設計と意味論を中心に設計を行った。また、空間モデルの実証実験として、国立科学博物館における展示支援システムとしてこの空間モデルが応用され、実空間かつ実ユーザにより空間モデルの表現性・実運用性が確かめられた。
