画像・音響・言語などは、われわれ人間にとって最も重要な入力情報である。本研究は、これらを多元的に理解することを目標とし、対象世界の知識に基づいて推論しながら、多様の形式の情報理解の方式を探究した。1.高次知能センサの研究高次知能センサの情報伝送,パターン処理と推論の構造,必要な知識表現などの問題について以下の研究を行った。(1)移動ロボットの環境理解のためのセンサ情報の融合と理解。(2)動的計画法を用いるステレオマッチングの高速ハードウェアの試作。(3)知的処理協調のため戦略ルールを用いる推論方式の実現。(4)3次元画像データの処理・表示とエキスパートビジョン。(5)音楽理解システムの実現と感性情報の抽出処理(6)2値画像の形状・構造解析と3次元情景解析(7)人体を対象にした3次元物体の特徴表現と認識2.多元入力情報の総合的理解の研究多元入力から得られる事実や仮説,対象世界で成立する法則を利用して、その世界を総合的に理解する研究を、以下のように行った。(1)天気図の記述・蓄積と検索,天気図理解システムの構成。(2)気象衛星多元画像と地形モデルの較正。(3)階層モデルに基づく言語音声の理解。(4)図面・文書画像の適応処理と知識処理。(5)総一した言語処理系による画像・文書解析.(6)ランドサット画像の知識に基づく理解(7)視覚情報と言語情報の接続と理解。
