Time-use studies on married man workers in various industries were performed to analyse the relationship between labour- and non-labour-related time-uses in modern workers in Japan. The summary of the main results and conclusions are the follows. 1) As the labour-related time including labour and journey-to-work times is prolonged, the 'active leisure time' spent for the activities such as entertainment, reading and socializing tends to be curtailed. The results suggest that the long labour-related time not only affects life time-use not quantitatively but also seriously deteriorate every-day 'life quality' of modern workers. 2) The return-to-home time crucially influences health and family human-relations, which are among the most important components of the life quality of workers; the critical get-home time is around 21:00 irrespective of differences in industry and locality. 3) The key to the improvement of the life quality of domestic modern workers, of which prerequisite is the reduction of working time, would be the construction of industrial relations effectual for normalizing working time practices.

对各个行业的已婚男性工人进行时间利用研究，以分析日本现代工人劳动相关和非劳动相关的时间利用之间的关系。主要结果和结论总结如下。 1）随着与劳动相关的时间（包括劳动和上下班时间）的延长，用于娱乐、阅读和社交等活动的“积极休闲时间”往往会减少。研究结果表明，较长的劳动时间不仅对生活时间利用产生不定量的影响，而且严重恶化了现代劳动者的日常生活“生活质量”。 2）返乡时间对健康和家庭人际关系有着至关重要的影响，而健康和家庭人际关系是影响劳动者生活质量的最重要组成部分；无论行业和地点如何，关键的回家时间都是 21:00 左右。 3）国内现代劳动者生活质量的提高，以减少工作时间为前提，关键在于构建有效规范工作时间实践的劳资关系。
