A study on the current changes in labour and life time-use relationships in Japan

对不同行业的已婚男性工人进行了时间利用研究，以分析日本现代工人中与劳动有关和非与劳动有关的时间利用之间的关系。主要研究结果和结论总结如下。1)随着劳动相关时间的延长，包括劳动和上班路程的时间延长，用于娱乐、阅读和社交等活动的“积极休闲时间”有减少的趋势。结果表明，较长的劳动时间不仅在数量上影响了生命时间的使用，而且严重恶化了现代工人的日常生活质量。2)回家时间对健康和家庭人际关系的影响至关重要，而健康和家庭人际关系是劳动者生活质量的最重要组成部分；无论行业和地区如何，关键的回家时间都在21点左右。3)要提高我国现代劳动者的生活质量，关键是要构建有效规范劳动时间惯例的劳动关系，这是减少劳动时间的前提。

Time-use studies on married man workers in various industries were performed to analyse the relationship between labour- and non-labour-related time-uses in modern workers in Japan. The summary of the main results and conclusions are the follows. 1) As the labour-related time including labour and journey-to-work times is prolonged, the 'active leisure time' spent for the activities such as entertainment, reading and socializing tends to be curtailed. The results suggest that the long labour-related time not only affects life time-use not quantitatively but also seriously deteriorate every-day 'life quality' of modern workers. 2) The return-to-home time crucially influences health and family human-relations, which are among the most important components of the life quality of workers; the critical get-home time is around 21:00 irrespective of differences in industry and locality. 3) The key to the improvement of the life quality of domestic modern workers, of which prerequisite is the reduction of working time, would be the construction of industrial relations effectual for normalizing working time practices.
