This research is the continuation research of Grant-in-Aid for Co-operative Research under the same title in 1984-86. (1) The materials which are collected in this time are technical reports from Los Alamos Laboratory, the second Frisch-Peierls memorandum, materials relating to Jollot-Curie's project in France, etc. Some materials relating to Japanese project are also collected from G.H.Q.-SCAP Files. (2) The scientist's attitude to the atomic bomb in various countries is studied comparatively, especially in the early stages of the research and development of the bomb. (3) The process of the establishment of the Metallurgical Laboratory in 1942 is traced in detail.

本研究是1984-86年“合作研究资助计划”的延续研究。(1)本次收集的资料有洛斯阿拉莫斯实验室的技术报告、第二次弗里施-佩尔斯备忘录、约洛-居里在法国的项目资料等。一些与日本项目有关的材料也从总部- scap档案中收集。(2)比较研究了各国科学家对原子弹的态度，特别是在原子弹研究和开发的早期阶段。(3)详细追溯了1942年建立冶金实验室的过程。
