The Role of Industrial Unions in Conflicts of Oversea Subsidiaries

1.冲突的主要原因（1）根据与工会官员的访谈，海外子公司冲突的主要原因是新任命的经理不尊重工会与前任经理之间关于劳资关系的习俗和非正式协议。(2)新经理不能和/或不想了解海外子公司的思维方式。他必须提高子公司的生产率，所以他忽略了一些习惯，这似乎是对高生产率。(3)管理中最重要的因素是管理层和企业之间的相互理解。日本的工会必须在管理层选择新任命的管理人员时有发言权。

The Main Reason of Conflicts(1) According to interviews with trade union officers, the main reason of conflicts in oversea subsidiaries is that a newly assigned manager does not respect customs and informal agreements concerning industrial relations between the trade union and the former manager.(2) The new manager cannot and/or does not want to understand the way of thinking in the oversea subsidiaries. He must improve productivity of the subsidiary, so he ignores some customs which seem to be against the high productivity.(3) The most important element of the management is mutual understanding between management and employees.2. Trade union in Japan must have a voice in management's selection of newly assigned managers.
