项目摘要

環境問題などの近代の負の遺産に対して主体的に貢献できる人材の育成、さらにはこのようなグローバルな問題に対して国際的イニシアチブを取り得る人材の育成は教育関係者が継続的に取り組むべき緊急の課題である。各教科において現在取り組まれている環境問題の科学的理解を、子どもたち個々人の実践のレベルへと導くためには環境倫理に裏付けられた道徳性の醸成が必須の要件と考えられる。本研究では、このような問題意識の下に、環境教育の統合論理としての価値観・自然観の探究の基礎作業として、日本の伝統的自然観の再発掘と価値観と文化特性の相関性の解明を試みた。しかし、環境教育ひいては道徳教育の根幹に関わる価値観の探究は、その裾野の広さと問題の深さに限りがない。残念ながら本年度の研究においては、子どもたちの行動に見られる価値観の変容の問題と、意識構造に質的断絶さえ感じられる子どもたちへの関わりの問題の2点に限り探究し、その成果を、教育哲学会第36回大会(愛媛大学)の学会発表と2つの著作(他研究者との共著)において報告したにすぎなかった。研究過程において判明してきたものは、1.大衆消費社会の浸透とともにモノ世界的な意識(消費結果志向で一方的所有関係に固執する意識構造)が若い世代に浸透し、これが公共性や相互性を前提とする環境倫理の醸成を阻害している要因であること。2.意識構造に質的差異がみられる子どもたちの価値観に触れる教育活動においては、教育者が自己の価値観を相対化した上で子どもたちの主体性を尊重し相互応答的で開放的な関係性を構築することがなによりも肝要であること。などである。今後も環境教育の統合論理としての価値観に関わる研究を継続していきたい。
