项目摘要

本研究の目的は、演劇における異文化受容の問題を検証し、その中で現在のアメリカ舞台芸術において問題となるインターカルチュラリズムの諸問題を明らかにすることにある。研究計画としては、現代アメリカ舞台芸術において、異文化受容がインターカルチュラリズムとして意識されるに至った経緯の必然性を概観し、その理論的裏付けを、ポストモダニズム、多元主義、オリエンタリズムなど、今日的文脈において試み、また個々の作品を検証することにより、60年代以降のアメリカ演劇の流れの中で、芸術表現形式としての文脈における政治的、社会的、文化的問題意識と演劇思想の関わりを標榜するというものである。このため本年度は、20世紀の西欧・アメリカ演劇、クロス/マルチカルチャーの演劇、ポストモダニズム理論、文化批評に関する研究書、学術雑誌を通読することから始め、とくにアメリカにおけるアルト-、ブレヒトの受容解釈を、文化とそのポリティクスという視点から新たに捉え直す作業を行ない、所属短期大学の紀要に論文として発表した。一方、インターカルチュラルな作品を検証するにあたっては、ダリル・チンの論文中のリストを参考に、劇評、論文を考察し、あらためて、異文化引用の際に底流するアメリカ的な「ランドスケープ」の概念(cf.G.スタイン)の検証の必要性を確認した他、来日したリ-・ブルーア-にこの視点からインタヴューをした。また文化における「ポリティクス」の概念を鑑みるにあたり、政府の文化政策が保守的な価値観であるとの認識を前提に前衛芸術の発展をみたヨーロッパと、合衆国では文化という認識が大きく異なり、必然的に芸術における政治性についての認識やスタンス及び方法論も大きく異なることが判明した。ベルリンの壁崩壊後、ポスト植民地といわれる時代にあり民族紛争が激化する中で、民族と文化という視点も含め今後の課題としてインターカルチュラリズムの演劇研究を続けたい。
