项目摘要

本研究は、近代社会の様々な問題の原因とされる近代合理性に対置されるべき“別種の”合理性を、近代合理性を批判する様々な理論の成果を比較し総合する観点から“多元的合理性”として提起することを目指す。当該年度の研究においては、一つにはいわゆるフランクフルト学派による近代合理性批判を多元性という観点に重点をおいて捉え直す再確認作業を行なった。近代合理性がもたらす同一性と抑圧の問題を描き出したホルクハイマーとアドルノの著作『啓蒙の弁証法』のうちとくに第６章に基づき、その断章形式が持つ同一性批判と多元的構成への志向を、そこで論じられる社会批判の内容とともに検討した。もう一つの取り組みとして、環境思想における二つの理論的傾向の比較を行い、別種の合理性の実践的可能性への見通しを探求した。具体的には、環境倫理学および環境に関する社会哲学の成果を、脱中心化された統合という多元性の原理に基づくポストモダニズムの思想の観点から捉え直す作業を行なった。環境倫理および環境に関する社会哲学においては、しばしば環境保護を実践するための世界政府の必要が論じられる。これは、すなわち地球生態系を破壊しない範囲に人間の社会経済活動を規制するための地球規模での一元的な統治・管理体制の必要性を論じる議論であるが、当該年度の研究では、これに対置されうる多元的取り組みの可能性を、近年の環境経済学の議論を参照しつつ、市場を通じた合理的秩序の形成のうちに探った。
