本研究は、東アジア世界との比較の中で、室町時代の陰陽道について考えてみようとしたものである。室町時代の陰陽道については、まず義満期について検討した。その結果、永和年間(1375〜79)を画期として陰陽道重視政策がとられるようになったことが明確になり、義満政権の祈祷体制が、永和年間以前、永和年間〜応永七年(1400)、応永七年〜義満の死まで、と三段階をへて確立してきたことが判明した。また、義満に重用された陰陽師・安倍有世の詳細な事績、義満の陰陽道編成施策についても明らかにすることができた。(「安倍有世論」として発表。)ついで義持期についても検討を加え、次の点で知見を得た。第一に、義持政権は、反義満的政策をとったといわれており、たしかに陰陽師の活動も義満期より不活発となるが、陰陽家の家格が維持されている面などをみれば単純に陰陽道軽視策がとられたとはいえないこと、第二に、義持に仕えた陰陽師を検討すると、義満期に重用された系統は冷遇された徴証があり、この点では反義満的傾向が見られること、以上である。(「義持政権期の陰陽道」『鹿児島中世史研究会報』50に発表予定。)これらの検討により、従来よりも一層詳細に室町政権の陰陽道政策が明らかになったものと考えられる。今後は、義教政権以後についても分析を進める所存である。一方、東アジア世界との比較において日本の陰陽道を考えるという点については、文献リストの作成という段階に留まった。研究の乏しい分野であり、今後、基礎的作業にかなりの時間を費やさねばならないであろう。
